ARA Compute Infrastructure
ARA provides distributed computing resources across its infrastructure to support experiment execution, radio and network control, data processing, and application workloads. As illustrated in the figure below, computing resources are deployed at the Data Center, ARA base stations, and user equipment (UE), providing compute capabilities at different points of the end-to-end experimental infrastructure.
The Data Center hosts dedicated compute nodes for centralized computing and experiment support. Each ARA base station cabinet includes multiple host computers and servers associated with radio (SDR), x-haul, edge, and other base-station resources. ARA user equipment also includes an integrated host computer, enabling applications and experiments to execute directly at the UE. Together, these resources provide experimenters with computing capabilities spanning the Data Center, edge/base-station sites, and user equipment.
The following tables provide the hardware specifications of the compute and host systems deployed at ARA sites.
