ARA COTS 5G Ericsson APIs
ARA provides APIs for configuring Ericsson gNodeBs (gNBs). Currently, four Ericsson Massive MIMO gNBs have been deployed at the following locations: Research Park, Curtiss Farm, Wilson Hall, and Agronomy Farm. Each gNB consists of three sectors, operating as a 5G Standalone (SA) system. Per sector, each gNB includes:
Mid-band radio: AIR 6419
mmWave-band radio: AIR 5322
The gNB APIs are packed within the container that communicates with the API server running on the COTS 5G gNB Server and returns the required information to the users. The architecture of the COTS 5G gNB API framework is shown below.
Users can modify gNB configurations through a set of Moshell-based APIs, which provide command-line access to configuration parameters, performance monitoring, and operational controls. Most of the parameters listed in this document comply with 3GPP specifications.
Note
For a detailed example of a COTS 5G experiment, refer to the COTS 5G Ericsson gNB Coverage Measurement which demonstrates how to configure and evaluate a COTS 5G system on the ARA testbed.
